my mother’s eldest brother, gene flancia, who is a prominent architect in parts of asia , designed a home for some clients that was featured on a design show. for one of my birthdays i was in the philippines and he took me out for a sushi lunch and brought me to the roof of one of the hotel resorts he designed and i remember thinking i wanted to be just like him. very cool!
